Adding an Alias

You can create two types of aliases from
IMail Web Messaging: standard aliases and group aliases.
A
standard alias can point to a single User ID on the same system, multiple
User }}–>IDs}}–> on
the same system, a remote mail address, multiple mail addresses, another
alias, or any combination of these.
A
group alias points to a file that contains a list of valid mail addresses.
In the Group Filename text box, enter the complete path for the file
To create a standard alias:
Enter
a name for the alias in the Alias ID
text box. An ID limited to 45 characters and must consist only of }}–>A-Z}}–>,
}}–>a-z}}–>, 0-9, _(underscore)
and -(hyphen). The name cannot contain spaces and must be unique within
the system but can override an identical User ID.
Select
the Standard alias option.
In
the Destination text box, enter
the mail }}–>address(es}}–>)
that the alias will resolve to. Enter one complete mail address per line,
up to four total addresses. Note:}}–> }}–>If
you enter more than four addresses, the standard alias will automatically
be converted into a group alias. If a standard alias is greater
than 128 characters, it is converted into a group alias. If a file name
is given, then it is used as the group file name, otherwise, the alias
name is used as the group file name.
To create a group alias:
Enter
a name for the Alias in the Alias ID
text box. An ID limited to 45 characters and must consist only of }}–>A-Z}}–>,
}}–>a-z}}–>, 0-9, _(underscore)
and -(hyphen). The name cannot contain spaces and must be unique within
the system but can override an identical User ID.
Select
the Group alias option.
In
the Group Filename text box, enter
the name of the file which contains the list of e-mail addresses for the
alias. }}–> }}–>If
the file does not exist, it will be created.
In
the Destination text box, enter
the complete path for the file entered in the Group
Filename text box. The path name should be given in DOS 8.3 format.
